A Strong Foundation Through Our Curriculum

We do not teach specifically to the 11+ examination. Instead, we focus on providing a high-quality education that develops the skills and learning behaviours children need to succeed.

Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on:

• Mathematics – building fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Applying for a Grammar School Place

Grammar schools set their own admissions arrangements, including registration procedures, entrance examinations and oversubscription criteria. Parents should always check the individual grammar school's website for the most up-to-date information.

Parents are responsible for:

• Registering their child for any required entrance tests by the published deadline.
• Checking the admissions arrangements for each grammar school they wish to apply to.
• Completing the secondary school application process through Trafford Council.

A successful entrance test result does not automatically guarantee a place, as admissions decisions are made according to each school's published admissions policy.

After-School Familiarisation Sessions

For pupils considering an application to a Trafford grammar school, Stamford Park Primary School offers optional after-school familiarisation sessions during Year 5. These sessions introduce children to the style and format of verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning questions, helping them become familiar with the assessment process while building confidence and resilience. The sessions are designed to complement, rather than replace, the rich curriculum provided during the school day. Families eligible for Pupil Premium funding can access these sessions using their allocated support, helping to ensure that all pupils have equitable access to this opportunity.
