Intent
At Stamford Park Primary School, we want children to be authors who can confidently communicate, recall and apply their knowledge, ideas and emotions through their writing and reach their full potential.
Our aims are to:
Our writing curriculum overview
We are currently reviewing and refining our Writing Curriculum to ensure it continues to meet the needs of all pupils and reflects the latest best practice in teaching and learning. As part of this process, we are in the process of updating the Writing Curriculum document published on our website.
In the meantime, writing continues to be taught through a carefully sequenced curriculum, supported by high-quality texts, rich vocabulary development and purposeful opportunities for writing across a range of genres. Teaching focuses on developing pupils’ transcription skills, composition, grammar and punctuation, ensuring progression and high expectations across all year groups.
The updated Writing Curriculum document will be published as soon as the review process is complete.
Links to our values:
Respect – Valuing the writing and ideas of others and responding constructively to feedback.
Cooperation – Sharing ideas, discussing writing, and working collaboratively where appropriate.
Consideration – Writing clearly with the reader in mind and adapting language for purpose and audience.
Resilience – Editing, refining, and improving writing through reflection and perseverance.
National Curriculum Alignment:
Our curriculum is designed in line with the Primary National Curriculum to ensure coverage of statutory requirements, progression of knowledge and skills in writing, and preparation for the next stage of education. Pupils develop competence in transcription (spelling and handwriting) and composition (articulating ideas and structuring text), alongside grammar and punctuation.
