Tuesday 17th May
It was lovely to see our year 3's in action today when we took two teams to Broadheath to play some friendly football matches. The teams were well matched with our opposition and there were some really close games. The effort and passion to play that the children displayed was fantastic. We were pleased to see so much talented football and we look forward to seeing them play again! Many thanks to parents for transporting and the sideline support!
Tuesday 22nd March
Tough games in a stacked tournament for our girls' team in the Altrincham Schools League. I was really proud of the effort they put in and the perseverance shown though. Great experience for some of our year 4 and 5s playing up against year 6s, bagging a couple of brilliant goals too! We finished 6th out of 8 teams and enjoyed it all the way through. We look forward to the next one. Thanks again to parents who came and supported!
Monday 14th March
Over the past two weeks our boy's football team took part in the Trafford Large Schools Football League. Week one was played at Hayes Lane Primary School; after some hard fought games, the boys won 1 and drew 2 games finishing joint first in their group. Week two took place here at SPPS and the team really stepped it up on home turf! They ended the afternoon winning 2 and drawing 1, which was enough to make them winners of the league! The team will now go on to face the winners of the small schools league at the finals night in a few weeks time. Thank you to parents who came to watch and support!
The girls league starts tomorrow at Hayes Lane and then at SPPS on the 22nd of March.
Friday 11th March
This week in Nursery, one of our nursery parents came to talk to the children about her job as a veterinary nurse. The children learned how to care for their pets. They looked at the skeletons of different animals and why they might need to be seen by a vet. Some of the children got to dress up as a vet to help make some animals better.
Friday 11th March
A couple of sporting fixtures for Year 5 recently; sports hall athletics at Altrincham Leisure Centre and a swim gala at St Ambrose. Well done to all who took part and a big thank you to parents that came to support the children at athletics!
Monday 7th March
More cross country success over the weekend. A girls team made up of 3 of our Year 4 pupils took part in the Year 5 Trafford Athletic Club Cross Country Relays at Longford Park and came out as gold medal winners!! It was one of the girls very first races too.
On the boys side of things; one of our Year 6 pupils came second overall for the season in the Boys Primary School's Cross Country League at Sale Harriers at Crossford Bridge. This was a series of 3 races with over 100 in the field each time and he came out with a 2nd and two 3rd place finishes!
Fantastic achievements all round, well done!
Thursday 3rd March
Thank you to those children who worked really hard at completing a poster for our Internet Safety Day. The Year 2 teachers had a very difficult task of judging the posters to find a winning poster to be displayed around the school as a reminder to children of how to stay safe whilst using the internet. Here is the winning poster:
Wednesday 2nd March
This week, our Year 6 children will be visiting Tatton Park as part of their World War 2 topic. They've all been invited to dress as an evacuee for the day to immerse themselves in the experience. Not wanting to be outdone, the staff have also taken part too!
Monday 28th February
Today has been just wonderful. Seeing the children working with and making new friends from all year groups and with different teachers has been lovely. Each class has completed very different tasks throughout the day, all linked to their class book. We have had: potion making, medicine mixing, painting, chocolate cooking, baking, collaging, drama, football, stamping, rock painting and clay sculpting… to name a few.
Monday 28th February
What a morning we have had! Each class has had a literacy focus to their morning, although we have seen a wide range of activities from potion writing and making to poetry. I have managed to make my way round half of the classes and all seem to be having a wonderful time. Lots of art, science, baking and drama happening this afternoon - more photos to follow!
Thursday 24th February
A massive thank you to Panathlon for organising today's Ten Pin Bowling event at Atlantic Bowl in Altrincham. Our children enjoyed it immensely and worked together so well as a team. Eighteen teams from various schools attended and we came in 1st place!! It was hard to see who was more excited, the children or the staff!
Tuesday 22nd February
This afternoon was the second round of matches in the Trafford Schools Hockey league. The squad maintained their stout defending, however, this time brought impressive offensive play too. A number of goals found the backboard in our favour and the squad won 3 games and drew 1, winning their group for the week! It was a pleasure to watch, well done!
Monday 7th February
Each year, children in Years 5 and 6 take part in the Primary Maths Challenge. We are delighted to share with you that four children achieved such high scores that they have been invited to take part in the Bonus Round! A huge congratulations to Seth Hammond, Sanvika Gopalswamy, Kanav Goyal and Eric Chen.
Saturday 5th February
We love it when our pupils share their success with us! On Saturday 5th of February one of our Year 6s represented Trafford in the Greater Manchester School Cross Country Championships. George was 14th overall and one of the scoring runners in Trafford's boys team in a field of around 120! Both Trafford boys and girls teams finished 3rd overall out of 10 boroughs. Fantastic work George! We were surprised to hear that he was tired after his race as his energy during PE and Cross country club seems to have no limit!
Thursday 27th January
This afternoon, we walked down to Altrincham Leisure Centre for a Year 5/6 Dodgeball tournament. 16 schools were in attendance and the level of play was very high! We managed to make it to the quarter finals but unfortunately lost in a very close game. Fantastic dips, ducks, dives, dodges and destroys going on; which the team coined as the 5 D's of Dodgeball!
Wednesday 26th January
During the week commencing the 31st January, all year groups will be holding their second STEAM day of the year. Our STEAM focus continues to be space and our curriculum focus for this day is DT as our key question for this half term is “How could we launch into space?” STEAM sessions expose children to a more creative process, encourage opportunities for meaningful collaboration and increase critical thinking. Please see the video below for more information on our last STEAM day! If you want to get involved at home, Logo Lift Off have launched a competition, which you may want to enter. For more information have a look at their website: https://www.logoliftoff.org.uk/
Tuesday 25th January
First set of fixtures for our mixed year 5/6 Hockey team tonight. They worked so hard running end to end and for a 1st time playing together did exceptionally well. Defending and goalkeeping were excellent and we shall be working on improving our offense to create more chances.
Friday 21st January 2022
Our first Year 2 fixture and my word did they do well! The children were split up into random teams with other schools and played 9 back to back 6 minute games! Lovely to see our children getting to know and helping people they had not met before. Many many goals were scored too, with Stamford Park having some of the top scorers!
Thursday 13th January
A big thank you to Trafford Handball Club who came into school today to deliver taster sessions to all the children from Reception to Year 3. It was very much enjoyed by all! All children have taken home a leaflet that details Trafford Handball's free upcoming open day on Saturday 15th January. You will need to sign up to a time slot in order to attend which can be found on the leaflet or using this link: https://forms.office.com/r/hhicABhgCT
Wednesday 12th January
Today, our fantastic Playground Leaders had a very interactive training session to help them deliver more games at lunchtime and involve more children. We're looking forward to seeing all their new ideas in the coming weeks!
Friday 7th January
This week, the nursery children have been on a real bear hunt. We read the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen and then went to forest school to experience the different scenes from the story. The children loved it! They went through some swishy, swashy grass; explored some thick, oozy mud; experienced a deep, cold river and brushed through the enchanted tree they had made before half term. The children absolutely loved creating their own swirly, whirly snowstorms. They even found a bear and made him a special cave made out of logs and leaves.
Wednesday 15th December
The children have all had a wonderful time at school taking part in a range of Christmas activities this past fortnight. We've had a visit from Santa and his reindeer, a pupil Christmas fair, a theatre trip, carol concerts and we still have more things to look forward to in the last couple of days. A huge thank you to our PTA for all their support and all the opportunities they have provided. On behalf of all the Governors and Staff, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Thursday 11th November
After a lively bus journey, a group of Year 4's attended a football tournament at Manchester United's The Cliff training ground. They certainly did not let the venue or occasion affect them and played brilliantly! Slick passing, strong defending, agile goalkeeping and plenty of goals! Great work!
Monday 8th November 2021
The children in early years have been learning all about owls over the past few weeks. On Monday, the children in Nursery and Reception had a visit from some birds of prey. They loved watching the amazing birds fly around the room. The children even had the opportunity to stroke a large eagle owl's magnificent feathers. Many thanks to Mr Wharton for arranging this.
Tuesday 19th October 2021
It was our Year 6 girls turn to take on a Trafford Schools Sport football tournament today. They showed some of the best attitude and camaraderie that I have seen in a Year 6 team. They played brilliantly and were a credit to our school and the parents watching. Not even the wet weather could dampen their spirit! Good experience gained and after some more practice, we shall come back even stronger!
Tuesday 12th October 2021
We took another new group of Year 6 boys to represent us in a Trafford Schools Sport football tournament today. Competition was tough, however, I was so impressed with the boys resilience and attitude. They gave it their all in tiring back to back games and managed to come away with a win in one of the matches too. On to the girls tournament next week!
Tuesday 12th October 2021
Our Nursery children have been reading the book Superworm by Julia Donaldson today. We then looked at the differences between snails and worms before painting our own snails!
Thursday 7th October 2021
The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing and talking about poems on Thursday, National Poetry Day. In the Infant Department, we were finally able to open the library and the infant children were able to enjoy sharing poems and books with each other. All classes learned poems and shared them with other year groups. We have lovely day!
Wednesday 6th October 2021
Today Year 3 and Year 4 have taken part in a workshop about Black History. They have learnt about many important historical events to do with the fight for equality. The children learnt lots of information, participated in some quizzes, acted out a freeze frame and thought about how they might feel if they were living at a different time in history.
Friday 1st October 2021
We took two Year 6 teams, 1 boys and 1 girls, to compete at Timperley Sports Club in a Trafford Schools Football tournament today. For the girls, this was their first time representing the school and playing together. There were some very close games which were great to watch and we will take the experience forward into the next event. The boys came 2nd, missing out on first place by just one point! A fantastic performance and our first piece of silverware this year. We look forward to two more Year 6 tournaments coming up, where even more of our pupils will represent the school for the first time; Tuesday 12th October for the boys and Tuesday 19th October for the girls.
Tuesday 28th September 2021
This morning children from across Year 4 walked over to Timperley Sports Club to take part in a Multi Skills festival. The event was run by sports leaders from BTH school and the Year 4's had the opportunity to try some Athletics, Cricket, Tag Rugby and Handball. It was lovely to see the enthusiasm and effort from the children! After a full morning of activity as well as the walk there and back, they were certainly ready for lunch! There was the added excitement of a helicopter landing on the playing field next to us too!
Monday 27th September 2021
We are very excited that our new Reading Buddies scheme has started today in Year 2 and Year 6! Our Year 6 pupils have been training hard to deliver a regular guided reading session to their Year 2 buddy. It was lovely to see all the children getting involved in this. A big thank you to Mrs Rodgers for organising everything.
Thursday 23rd September 2021
A group of Year 6 boys attended a football tournament today at Manchester United's The Cliff training ground. The tournament was 'player-led', meaning the boys had to make every decision managing their team with no input from myself. We were incredibly impressed with the maturity, organisation and level of football shown. We look forward to hearing the match report and presenting the certificates in special mentions assembly tomorrow. A great start to what we hope is a busy year of fixtures at Stamford Park Primary School!
Tuesday 21st September 2021
It’s wonderful to be back in school and to have all the children here together as Stamford Park Primary School enters its first year. We are looking forward to welcoming parents back into the school for our many events; our Year 1, Year 2 and Year 4 children will all be holding Harvest assemblies in October and we look forward to welcoming parents in for those. Our Year 2 children are busy rehearsing in the photo below. We’re also incredibly excited that sports fixtures are back and some of our Year 6 children are attending a tournament at Old Trafford on Thursday morning; it’s our first sports fixture in over 18 months!
