Youth Conference

The 'Head Pupils' went to the annual Youth Conference in Stretford today and represented our school at the event.

During the conference, the children heard from The Youth Council members about their initiatives and achievements at both local and national levels, including:

  • An introduction to The Youth Cabinet group and its members,

  • Updates on the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) and the two elected Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs),

  • The Youth Cabinet’s work with the Greater Manchester Youth Combined Authority (GMYCA),

  • Highlights and achievements of The Youth Cabinet over the past year.

After the introduction, children took part in engaging fifteen-minute workshops, delivered on a rotational “speed networking” basis. Topics included:

  • Introduction to Democracy – hosted by The Youth Cabinet group,

  • Safety and Transport – led by Hannah Stanton,

  • Activities for Health and Wellbeing – led by UA92,

  • Youth Voice and Accessibility – led by Trafford Council’s SEND Engagement Officer,

  • Mental Health and Mindfulness – led by The Youth Cabinet Lead and supported by Trafford Council.

There were other activities at the event such as:

  • Stalls from youth provisions across Trafford, which showcased services available now and into secondary school.

  • Snacks and refreshments were provided.

  • Photography took place throughout the event.

  • A fun ‘Feedback Photobooth’ was available, where the young people decorated speech bubbles with their thoughts and had their picture taken.

  • Each participant received a goodie bag containing small toys, stationery, sweets, and information to take home.

The children had a wonderful time!
